Once an error is clearly and fully understood, it need not be repeated. Addiction is to the false Self. Drugs and Alcohol are just self-medication trying to alleviate the pain caused by that addiction.

Since 1969, the first year Gallup asked about illegal drug use, Americans have grown increasingly more concerned about the effects of drugs on young people. For instance, in 1969, 48% of Americans told Gallup that drug use was a serious problem in their community. In 1986, a majority of Americans, 56%, said that the government spent “too little” money fighting drugs. there are no absolutes, so I would say, yes but, with contingencies. The intensity of the addiction probably makes a huge difference. But, on the other hand, it’s pretty safe to say that even the smallest addiction plays a small role in a family’s ability to function.
