Will SSI Pay for Drug Rehab?

Question by WillC: Will SSI pay for drug rehab?
[rewrite]My father is disabled from health problems. He receives SSI as a result, which does not really cover his monthly living expenses. He is somewhat independent, but as a result of the injury, the government has placed me as his representative payee, meaning I have control of his finances. I do not, however, have control of his medical, or anything of that sort. He has become addicted to his prescription pain pills, and I am trying to figure out how to get him help.

I’m on the kansas version Medicaid. I have never used it though. Does his booklet that came with Medi-cal list the drug treatment programs? Or could his social security worker tell you who would take him for rehab? In the KS book there was a short list of who would treat drug/alcohol abuse.

Question by ICARRESS: drug rehab / rehabilitation for addiction in new york?
[rewrite]I need to find a residential facility in new york state. I tried searching the web, but there’s so much ‘spam’ that I can’t tell real facilities from nonsense..
I have NO idea where to start. Please give me specifics – or real organizations that can provide direction.
Thanks.

[rewrite]I am in Chicago, in my 20s, unable to work because of the bad economy though I have a degree. So I can’t afford my bipolar medication. This has led me to relapse. I also don’t have a place to live. Is there a program out there that has free/reduced medication, therapy, housing? Anyone? Any help is appreciated.
